Louise M. Dembry, MD, MS, MBA, FACP, FIDSA, FSHEA
Dr. Dembry is Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Yale University. She was the Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Associate Director and Director of Hospital Epidemiology from 1993-2015. She is currently Director of Hospital Epidemiology for the Veteran’s Affairs Connecticut (VA CT) Healthcare System. She has held multiple hospital leadership positions at both YNHH and the VA CT Healthcare System. She was Treasurer of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) 2009-2012 and served on the SHEA Board and the SHEA Education and Research Foundation (ERF) Board during that period. Dr. Dembry was again on the SHEA Board of Trustees 2014-2017 (President of SHEA and SHEA Board Chairperson 2016) and served as the 2017 SHEA ERF Board Chair. She is a member of the Connecticut Healthcare Associated Infection Advisory Committee appointed by the Commissioner of Public Health, the CT Department of Public Health Antimicrobial Resistance Task Force, and the Reportable Conditions Advisory Committee. Her main interests include 1) the prevention and control of transmission of antibiotic resistant organisms in healthcare settings, 2) patient safety, 3) healthcare facility preparedness for high consequence infections and 4) training and education for hospital epidemiology and public health emergencies.
