Dr. Marrazzo holds the C. Glenn Cobbs Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases and is the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Marrazzo is internationally recognized for her research and education efforts in the field of sexually transmitted infections, especially as they affect women’s health and in the setting of HIV. And as they relate to the vaginal microbiome. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and was elected to the IDSA Board of Directors in 2018. She holds a number of leadership positions in the area of infectious diseases research, including serving as a leader of the NIH Infectious Disease Clinical Research Consortium that has studied COVID19 vaccines and treatment.
