Dr. Advani is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and serves as the Co-Medical Director of Duke Infection Control Outreach Network (DICON). In her role, she assists >50 community hospitals in further development and strengthening of their existing infection prevention programs. She also participates as a physician investigator in the research activities of the Duke Center for Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention.
Dr. Advani's main research interests include prevention of catheter-related harm, implementation of diagnostic stewardship interventions, and improving metrics to better align with outcomes. She currently serves on the SHEA Guidelines Committee, IDWeek Mentorship Committee, IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Workgroup, SHEA Program Planning Committee, and served as the Chair of SHEA Journal Club in 2020. She has been awarded the NIDDK-K12 Urologic Career Development Award and SHEA Research Scholar Award for her UTI related research. In addition, she serves as one of the key investigators for CDC Epicenter studies related to UTIs and COVID19.
