Joanna Masel is a Professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona, and Head of Science at WeHealth PBC. She is a mathematical modeler and data scientist who has published in diverse fields including infectious disease, biochemistry, systems biology, evolutionary biology, economics, and education. She recently led studies to calibrate exposure notification risk settings to SARS-CoV-2 infection risk (in press at Risk Analysis https://doi.org/10.1101/2020.07.17.20156539), to measure meaningful exposure notification app adoption in a campus community https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.02.02.21251022, and to quantify the economic benefits to quarantine policies in reducing the need of population-wide NPIs https://doi.org/10.1101/2020.11.24.20238204. She is currently working on opt-in exposure notification analytics data and on optimizing testing and quarantine regimes.
