Truc Tran, PharmD, BCPS, received her pharmacy degree at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. She performed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Tran then completed her Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Fellowship at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and University of Houston College of Pharmacy. She joined the Division of Infectious Diseases in 2011 as a post-doctoral fellow. Her main areas of interest include antibiotic resistance and pharmacology.
Dr. Tran is currently an Assistant Professor of the Division of Infectious Diseases and holds her clinical appointment as an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist at the Memorial Hermann Hospital – Texas Medical Center. She received support by the NIH through the Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (K08). She has described two novel mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in clinical important pathogens. Through her work, Dr. Tran hopes to dissect antibiotic-associated pathways to provide insights into bacterial physiology that could be exploited with novel pharmacological strategies and be translated to patient care.
