In 2018 he was co-chairman of the 17th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) organized by the International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID)

For more than 25 years, he has been involved in many aspects of infectious disease management, including the clinical care of patients, lecturing, and clinical research. His special interest is in HIV infection and respiratory tract infections and HIV, , where he has undertaken extensive research.
