Dr. McArthur is a physician scientist with training in pediatrics, microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, and clinical infectious diseases.
She completed her combined MD/PhD degrees at the University of Texas Medical Branch, followed by residency in Pediatrics, and
fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of
Maryland School of Medicine and a member of the Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD). Her research is geared toward
improving our understanding of the interactions between pathogens and the host immune response, in particular attempting to identify
immunological correlates of protection following vaccination. Her current research portfolio includes both translational immunology studies and clinical vaccine trials, including Phase 3 COVID-19 vaccine trials, with the overarching theme of advancing the development of vaccines necessary to prevent infection and improve global health.
