Dr. Hayakawa is the Chief Physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in Tokyo, Japan.
She is a member of the Infection Control Team, and she also works for the AMR Clinical Reference Center. She has been involved in the development of
J-SIPHE (Japan Surveillance for Infection Prevention and Healthcare Epidemiology), a comprehensive nationwide surveillance platform that aggregates data related to AMR for each institution and regional network.
She completed Infectious Diseases Fellowship as well as Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology Fellowship at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, USA. Her research focus is to produce clinically and practically relevant findings in the field of hospital epidemiology and drug-resistant bacteria. She has also been actively engaged in research in other areas of clinical infectious disease while mentoring junior colleagues.
