Associate Professor
Washington University School of Medicine, MO, United States
Jeffrey Henderson, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Medicine and Molecular Microbiology in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His doctoral, residency, and fellowship training was completed at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He is a Fellow in the Infectious Diseases Society of America (FIDSA) and an inductee of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). He serves as co-Director of the Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology graduate program and as a member of the Medical Scientist Training Program steering committee.
Dr. Henderson is an infectious diseases physician-scientist with a primary focus on bacterial infection pathogenesis, particularly those in the urinary tract. He has a longstanding interest in the molecular mechanisms through which bacterial colonizers cause infections. NIH and CDC-funded work in the Henderson laboratory focuses on the role of small molecule metabolites and metal ion interactions in the outcomes of host-microbial interactions. These interdisciplinary studies combine human studies, infection models, bacterial genetics, and advanced mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approaches.
