Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine
Weill Cornell Medical College
New York, NY, United States
Ole Vielemeyer, M.D. is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. He is the Medical Director of the Infectious Diseases Division and since joining their faculty 8 years ago has been the director of ID Associates & Travel Medicine. He is also an associate ID fellowship program director.
Dr. Vielemeyer obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Leipzig Medical School in Germany. After some postgraduate training in Leipzig and Berlin, he moved to the U.S. and completed Internal Medicine residency, including a year as Chief Resident at the University of Rochester in Upstate New York. He subsequently obtained dual fellowship training in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Yale University where his basic research focused on malaria.
Dr. Vielemeyer is a dedicated clinician educator. He sees patients with a wide variety of infections mostly but not exclusively in the outpatient setting, often together with students, residents and fellows. He also directs the very busy outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) program. Dr. Vielemeyer relishes seeing the entire range of infectious diseases while practicing in Manhattan alongside awesome colleagues and with the help of amazing staff.
In his time away from work he never tires of exploring a new exhibition, new concert, or a yet-to-see ethnic neighborhood in one of the five boroughs with his DSLR camera.
