Assistant Professor
Barnard College, Columbia University, United States
Dr. Allison J. Lopatkin is an Assistant Professor of Computational Biology in the Biology Department of Barnard College of Columbia University. She is an affiliate member of the Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) Department, the Data Science Institute, and Department of Systems Biology of Columbia University. She graduated from University of Rochester with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, Duke University with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, and completed her Postdoctoral training at MIT and the Broad Institute. Dr. Lopatkin’s research and teaching utilizes a highly integrative computational and experimental approach to quantitatively describe bacterial population dynamics and their implications in a range of clinically and ecologically relevant contexts. Research in the Lopatkin lab focuses on investigating mechanisms underlying the evolution of antibiotic resistance in bacterial populations using a combination of experimentation, computational modeling, and bioinformatic analysis.
