At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • describe how the microbiota of patients receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics is depleted of many commensal bacterial species that provide resistance against intestinal infections
  • discuss how metabolites produced by intestinal bacterial strains impact host immune defenses
